Alex Ell

Alex was born with a genetic bleeding disorder called hemophilia (one's blood does not clot properly). He serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Hemophilia Foundation of Oregon and also volunteers his time to a youth program under the National Hemophilia Foundation to help educate young adults with bleeding disorders.
Alex joined ELNW so that he could not only help people with hemophilia, but also offer assistance to a community with a wider range of disabilities. His disease has had a tremendous affect of his outlook on life. Growing up in Portland and visiting hospitals on a regular basis has allowed him to develop an interest in healthcare. Alex is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Portland in aims to be accepted at the graduate school of his choice. His interests in medicine have gained him experience as an intern in the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development program at OHSU, as well as employment at Doernbecher Children's Hospital as a physical therapy aide. Many of Alex's accomplishments have come through the view that hemophilia plays a positive role in his life. He believes to accept who you are and do the best with what you can.
